My JVC-HD100 doesn't record or pick up any sound, other than a TAP TAP TAP.

I sent it to JVC service support. They said it needs a new optical board, an HJK power thing and something else. All amounting to $1300. Of course, this isn't worth it.

I was intending on getting it fixed and selling it for something else. Now I'm not sure what to do..Or how much I could sell it for with the sound not working.

Do you recommend any dealers/resellers? should I ebay it?

I've been googling everywhere for other JVC repair specialists that might be more affordable, but haven't had any luck. Any advice would be very appreciated.

First time posting on this forum, bur been a member a while and constantly use it for tips for my camera.

i shoot wit the GY-HD111 PAL area and i was just wondering about a few things.

I do a lot of motor racing tv shows with a 5-6 camera set-up all jVC GY-HD 111's.

At the moment i have had them all shooting 720/25p and the images look great especially when my cameramen follow the action correctly. i know 25p is very nice when action or movement is followed correctly, otherwise static shots create a blurred car when it passes through said shot.

i was just questioning the need for 50p and should i consider this.

What are the pro's and con's of 25p and 50p in ProHD 720?????

I am trying to find the correct method to rate my cameras ASA/ISO. I have searched the forum and the net, but cant seem to find anything simple enough to carry out at home. I have a sekonic spot/incident meter and JVC GYHM700.

I have a 5-yr old HD100. The sound worked fine until last July. Water might have possibly gotten in. I have no visual or capture issues. When I'm recording, all I get is a tap, tap, tap. Just like a metronome sound. I've tried switching the inputs, mics, modes, checked the audio settings, testing. Still nada.

I'm considering getting the audio fixed, & selling the HD100 in favor of something smaller and as good. Problem is I know when there is some kind of circuitry issue JVC will charge alot more than I can afford (which is probably not worth it)

Right now I'm googling for a JVC Camera Repair shop here in North California. If you guys have any suggestions, it would be so appreciated!

Second, I'm planning a slo-motion shot with this camera. We'll be using the P+S Technik with Zeiss lenses. I was thinking of shooting at 60p, and importing into FCP at 24p (not 23.97). I've tried looking up information online about this, but have not found the best results.

I'm a college student on a college student's budget (not much, as most of you probably know). I'm very interested in the hd-gy200u and have done plenty of research on various sites but was wondering if there is enough of a difference to buy it over the 100u.

Looking at the specifications on pro.jvc.com the main differences that I can see is the 100 doesn't have 720/60p. Everything else to me seems to be roughly the same, except the fact that the 100 is about 4 inches shorter than the 200. And I've found it between $500-$1k less than the 200u.

I plan on shoot mostly short films, with a mixture between set and field. Set would have a very strong sense of color and lighting, and I can see that both cameras seem to have the same color separation, pixels, and color bars.

If anyone has used the two of them, is the 200u worth getting? Or should I get the 100u and save my money for other essentials like a decent tripod or monitor?

I'm facing a very weird problem with my JVC GY-HD100E camcorder. Only lately I had my firewire port replaced as the camcorder was not recognized by any editing software. Though the port was replaced, the camcorder is still not recognized on HDV mode, despite the fact that I've tried 3 different cables and 3 different firewire inputs on two different PCs, a desktop and a laptop. The weird thing is that the camcorder works and can be controlled just fine when switched to DV mode on both the menu and the external switch. By now I'm growing desperate since the only option in case of a camcorder malfunction is the purchase of a VCR which is a rather expensive solution. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Its got ability to interchange lenses, and a wide variety of Film formats to choose from.

For anyone whos used this, how is the quality of the image vs others in its class?

Is there anything else out there that has similar (or better) functionality for around the same price?

If anyone can point me in a direction where I can find more info about this as well, it would be greatly appreciated.

the sony is 1080, what is the JVC? from the B&H specs it seems the JVC is 720. how much of a difference is this in image quality?

apparently the 1/2 inch sony sensor and the 1/3 inch JVC sensor differences are pretty much equalised once you put on the Letus lens converter and other lenses. is this true?

i'm desperate to know ASAP, as i HAVE to buy the camera buy this coming tuesday, 29th for shoot starting sun 4th.
