Stéphane Mandelkern Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Hi I need an advice. I own a BOLEX with which i made tests and it sometimes appears a stripe on the edge of the image, with a different exposure that the rest of the image (darker, see the photo on the upper left side). It appears only using a Nikon lens with an adaptator Nikon to c-mount on the camera, either against light or back light. I thought it was due to my Nikon to s-mount adaptator. But recently, I watch the french movie "Remorques" (in english "Tow" I think) by Jean Grémillon (1939) and I noticed the same problem on some shots. Have someone experienced this problem et do you have an idea of its origin ? Thank you.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted September 28, 2024 Premium Member Posted September 28, 2024 Looks like light is being reflected from the side of the adapter, causing veiling glare over the whole image except for where the edge of the gate blocks it. Look for shiny surfaces inside the adapter and maybe paint it matte black or line it with velvet or felt.
Stéphane Mandelkern Posted September 29, 2024 Author Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) Thanks for this advice. I am going to have a look. Edited September 29, 2024 by Stéphane Mandelkern
