Stéphane Mandelkern
Hi I need an advice. I own a BOLEX with which i made tests and it sometimes appears a stripe on the edge of the image, with a different exposure that the rest of the image (darker, see the photo on the upper left side). It appears only using a Nikon lens with an adaptator Nikon to c-mount on the camera, either against light or back light. I thought it was due to my Nikon to s-mount adaptator. But recently, I watch the french movie "Remorques" (in english "Tow" I think) by Jean Grémillon (1939) and I noticed the same problem on some shots. Have someone experienced this problem et do you have an idea of its origin ? Thank you.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted September 28 Premium Member Share Posted September 28 Looks like light is being reflected from the side of the adapter, causing veiling glare over the whole image except for where the edge of the gate blocks it. Look for shiny surfaces inside the adapter and maybe paint it matte black or line it with velvet or felt.
