Jeremy Koehr Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 (edited) Hi everyone, I recently purchased two 100ft SE rolls of expired cinema film that was unlabeled and quite cheap. It was with a group of others that were labeled from 1994, so I'm assuming that's around the age of these as well (Some being Fuji F-400 8582). I plan on bulk loading these into my stills camera and doing tests with each roll, assuming they're different film stocks. My plan: Set up a controlled environment, light at various EI levels while logging the levels on each frame. I've also heard expired stock should be rated at 1 additional stop greater per decade. Assuming it's from 1994, theoretically this would be rating closer to EI50. My question: If you were going to test these what would your process look like? Thanks for your knowledge and input. Best, Jeremy Apologies for posting in the wrong section, I just noticed there is a film stock area. Edited December 31, 2024 by Jeremy Koehr
Don H Marks Posted January 1, 2025 Posted January 1, 2025 (edited) This is how I test unknown film: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/testing-some-new-film-shanghai-8x10-how-i-do-it.171836/#post-2236071 Edited January 1, 2025 by Don H Marks
Mark Dunn Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 I'm guessing OP doesn't have any of that equipment, and this is presumed to be colour film.
