Hi everyone,

I was testing a location I was thinking to film in for a passion project which gives me the opportunity to experiment and take my time. I went out and tested my 300W light on a fully extended combo stand (4.5meters) with my hazer to see what I would be able to work with. It was dark so I wasn't able to clear the bushes to properly backlight my partner, but I think I would definitely move the light more in frame so that the light can reach closer to the camera and have a proper backlight and get rid of the hot spot due to proximity. I have another 300W light that I was thinking of using with a 120cm lantern placed as high as possible to lift the overall ambience, as well as another 120w light that I can use to light some foreground. Actress will move away from camera and stop in the middle - some subjects will appear from behind the tree line which is why I need the shot backlit - so that their silhouette can be seen. Note that I brought the exposure down quite a bit in post.

Question is: Am I approaching this in a sensible way?
