Good day. I am new to this group but have had my Rex-5 since 1970 and it still works great. Thanks to Bolex Paillard!

My question concerns supplying power to the MST motor. I made a battery pack that seems to work well although it is a little clunky.

I have a BE-22 power supply for the omnimotor. Can the BE-22 be used on the MST when filming interiors and not moving around a lot?

Thanks for any advice.  Jim

It looks like the BE-22's H8 setting for 12-16fps might be 12V, which is what the MST motor requires. I'd suggest checking the BE-22's output with a multimeter before connecting it to your MST.

If you are looking for other power options, I sell two MST cable options on eBay. One option is a D-Tap to 12V regulated cable. The second is a 4-pin XLR cable to use with a 4-pin XLR AC/DC adapter. I have cables listed for the 6-pin and 7-pin MSTs.

If you can solder, you can make an MST cable yourself:

  • For a 7-pin, buy an Amphenol-Tuchel T3476001 7-pin female connector. 12V goes to pin 5 (+) and ground goes to pin 2 (-).
  • For a 6-pin, buy an Amphenol-Tuchel T3401001 6-pin female connector. 12V goes to pins 1/2 (+) and ground goes to pins 5/6 (-).
