Anamorphic in flate ratio

I'm trying to utilize the quirks of anamorphic on a project that wants to be tall. So we're choosing the flat ratio (1.85:1). I want to do as little cropping as possible. I think the best way would be to use a tall sensor like that on the Sony Venice, and shoot open gate with a 1.33x lens. If I'm right, that should get me desqueezed to about 1.99:1. I don't think I'd lose much of the images rolloff cropping to 1.85:1. 

Is there a better way to do this? Anyone have advice?

There are also anamorphics with only 1.25x. E.g. Isco manufactured and sold one in 2006. And there’s one from Siriui that is still in production: https://store.sirui.com/de/products/sirui-1-25x-anamorphotischer-adapter

Not sure whether they suit your camera and quality demands.

Interesting. Haven't considered adaptors. Thank you, I'll look more into it.

I think we figured it out if anyone is interested. We're shooting on a Sony Venice 2 in 4:3 mode 4k. We're going to use a 1.3x Anamorphic with minimal cropping.
