Yoshua Gerry Sanjaya Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Hi all I wanted to ask about ASC mentorship program. Have any of you experienced it before? I would like to know your review about the program and who should apply? Do I need to shoot a feature film before to apply ? can a commercial cinematographer who have an experience to non narative project apply ?
Nick Morr Posted June 30 Posted June 30 (edited) I have not been a mentee, but I did read the application rules the other day. There are no requirements re: what you might have shot, just that you've been working professionally in production or on set for five years. You never know who might assess your application and be interested in mentoring you. There are many cinematographers in the ASC who have not shot features and who exclusively shoot commercials (like Bill Bennett, Paul Meyers), VFX, second unit, sitcoms, etc. They don't discriminate on discipline when it comes to membership, so I don't think they would for applicants. Apply and see what happens! Edited June 30 by Nick Morr typo
