If you're on here Henry, I did enjoy the video mostly because it does validate my concerns about a 3D printed camera, in the end resorting to digital manipulation in post to create any sense of registration, is absolutely part of what I was discussing. What makes a motion picture camera so special is its uncanny ability to maintain registration and flange depth across the entire frame. Manipulating the image digitally in post to get something workable, isn't exactly the "flex" you think it is, especially with the scratching, dirt, light leaks and shutter timing issues prevalent throughout the finished cleaned up image. Yes, there is that "ahhh" moment where the efforts finally clicked and you were able to come back with something workable so you could "stick it to the man", but eh... it was clearly just for the lol's.

What makes the video entertaining is the fact you guys literally had no idea what you were doing, so the journey you take us on is one of exploration and audiences do enjoy that. That aspect mixed with the storytelling process, with lots of side tangents, almost makes it seem like from the first second to the last, it was scripted which is fine, you sometimes have to do that with YouTube. At the same time, I have no idea how you put so much effort into this project simply for a YouTube video. It blows my mind away because had I done this, I would have made a product that works, which would at least have some value outside of the lol's. My video would have been boring as well because I can't shoot video AND work at the same time, so there would be no video of the creation, just a finished product that worked, thanks for joining. LOL 

Anyway, good job I really enjoyed it and I'm again, very glad to have given you the cattle prod required to keep at it. Now at least the whole world knows it really can't be done. 😛

Absolutely brilliant in all regards, @kanery hiddelstone - @Henry kidman. You did it. I admire how you coped with all the "forget it, it's impossible" attitude. Yeah, registration isn't perfect — but that is so irrelevant for the overall success and story. And I find both amazing!

I think if you re-read the original post on this group, you'll find nothing but positivity and simply many peoples experiences directing him into a path which would make him successful, which he clearly used and explained in detail within the video. So the transfer of experience/knowledge did make him far more successful. 

So can you tell me what you mean by "impossible" attitude?

Scratches film, has light leaks, shutter timing and frame jumping issues, focus isn't even across the frame, etc. Those things are what DEFINES a motion picture camera. If you can't meet SMPTE guidelines, then it's not a motion picture camera.

If there wasn't a video made about it and you just saw a completed project that actually created proper images, would you feel the same way?

See, he wanted to build a "video camera", not a motion picture camera. This was a fun project of a maker, not an attempt to build a pro camera, nor a business.

A video camera would still need to meet SMPTE guidelines to create an image.
