A lot of cinematographers struggle when working strictly in Rec.709, I just can’t see or feel the image that way. Normally, I’ll load some looks into the camera using the Arri reference tools, but those are just preset looks, and they don’t always suit every project, whether it’s a film, commercial, night scene, interior, exterior, or daylight work.

How do you approach this? Often, due to production schedules and time constraints, sometimes there isn’t an opportunity for the DP or cinematographer to build a proper show LUT, or even a dedicated LUT for a commercial or feature, before shooting begins. Are there any reliable sources to download LUTs, like high-contrast or film emulation LUTs, that genuinely deliver good results for monitoring ? What is your approach !?
