Joerg Polzfusz Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 Hi! Is this good or bad news? https://www.pbs.org/newshour/arts/the-oscars-will-move-to-youtube-in-2029-leaving-longtime-broadcasting-home-abc 1
Premium Member Aristeidis Tyropolis Posted December 18, 2025 Premium Member Posted December 18, 2025 Depends on how you see it, I believe that the Oscars have gone to become, a relatively speaking inconsequential force in the cinema viewing audience compared to years past. The media world is going through a very significant transformation journey, I honestly hope it does not turn out in a bad way. 1
Daniel D. Teoli Jr. Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 (edited) Dunno OP. I have not watched it for last couple of shows. After they put up all the rules to get your movie qualified and the slap. Plus, didn't like how they dissed Robert Blake when he died. If they cut it up in sections, it may be good. You can watch what interests you. Edited December 22, 2025 by Daniel D. Teoli Jr.
Max Field Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 Hollywood cutting spending on something and shoving it out on a lesser platform? Where have I seen this hundreds of times in the last 10 years before...?
Joerg Polzfusz Posted December 26, 2025 Author Posted December 26, 2025 They claim that YouTube will broadcast worldwide while ABC was USA-only. On the other hand: IMHO Alphabet isn’t interested in arts/movies/Oscars. They aren’t even interested in the money they will make with the advertising. They are only interested in milking millions of data cows watching the same thing live, then feeding this into their LLMs and statistics tools…
