Hello,

I have a Zeiss 10-100 1.8 (looks like MK2). It has a problem with the zoom: The zoom feels sticky especially in the 75-100mm range when zooming out and 10-20 range when zooming in. Yet it's not consistent, sometimes super light tension is on before released when further zooming, sometimes there is more tension before it releases the 'knot' – feels like an element not in place or moving incorrectly with the speed of the zoom. It also creates a focus problem in this very moment and parafocality is lost before getting back into place when further zooming. I've read the MK2 had more problem. Also that you service this lens.

Would be great to know if you know this problem and if you know a great service,

Thanks

It's a common fault with those Zeiss zooms that a bushing that slides over a shaft as you zoom swells internally with age and creates tightness. The compensator group lags a bit and you get momentary focus dropouts. It can be repaired by a competent tech who knows these zooms. I can ask my contacts for a good tech near you if you don't find anyone.

I shot Doclos a mail, but I'm on a budget, so not sure I could afford them.

Well, cine zooms are always time consuming, and this fault probably requires full disassembly. Experienced techs are expensive, but your gear will work afterwards.

Anyone I recommend will be probably be similar.

Yes, and I'm also happy to pay this important work. There are just monetary limits for me. I'd still be happy to contact one or two people for offers if you have good suggestions.
