Benjamin Sarabacha Posted April 4 Posted April 4 (edited) I'm looking for a single frame motor or single frame control unit for my Bolex with 1-1 drive shaft. My current motor is fixed to a 1/2 second exposure time. I am looking for a motor that has exposure time controls for single frame animation. Over the years it appears Bolex has had several options released to do such a thing such as the "Wild Vario" timer and the "Single frame control unit." Also there were third party options such as the "Revolution" motor that had such exposure options. However, I cannot find any such thing available currently on the web. If anyone has a motor with exposure time control options and would be willing to sell, let me know. It seems to me to be a pretty basic thing (in theory) to have choices on a motor unit for how fast the motor spins each time the button is pushed, but the need for such a control was obviously very rare. It almost seems like something that could be manufactured/hacked by some enterprising party??? Edited April 4 by Benjamin Sarabacha
Brandon Paterno Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) i might be able to build one for you, but i’d have to see about borrowing a bolex to check on mounting for either the 8:1 or 1:1 shaft. i month back i finished a beaulieu with proprietary code and hardware that among other things has some pretty comprehensive single frame and intervalometer controls. but it’s ultimately a motor drive with controls, so applicable to anything. i’d be happy to send you a quick video of how the intervalometer controls work if it interests you Edited April 5 by Brandon Paterno
Benjamin Sarabacha Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 Okay. I would definitely be interested in seeing how yours works. Thank you for the offer to make one, but, I have found someone to modify a motor I already had. It may take a bit to complete, but I'll post how it goes and keep your offer in mind if the need arises (something falls through or doesn't work).
