Brandon Paterno Posted May 25 Posted May 25 word on the street (another forum) is that Chinese film manufacturer Lucky Film is looking into and or beginning to make small gauge motion picture film. in the early 2000s they used to manufacture film for Kodak. nowadays they make a small selection of still cam films. It was bound to happen eventually ! 3
Brandon Paterno Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 i’ve got nothing more atm, if you wanna get a little chinese with it then lucky film is reachable on xiaohongshu
Gautam Valluri Posted May 26 Posted May 26 The information I've heard is that this is a 16mm version of their new 50 ISO reversal film that they unveiled at a Photo expo in Beijing recently. Apparently the talk is that they're testing it and are willing to produce it if there is enough demand.
Premium Member Gregg MacPherson Posted May 27 Premium Member Posted May 27 I saw some some bulk load stills film on Ali Express...LUCKY Black & White Negative SHD50 SHD100 30.5 Meters... High Resolution...USD41 incl shipping. Can this be run in an Eyemo or an Arri 2...? Hopefully the Chinese can manufacture cine film at high enough quality. And it could be really cheap, a great thing for artists and art film makers.

You could perhaps first buy a single 135 stills cartridge to see if the perfs hold in your Eyemo/ Arri IIC? $41 for 30m is cheap. Only thing to enquire would be if they ship on cinema film cores or those diamond-shaped Ilford bulk cores? If not, respooling inside a dark bag is possible, you'll just have to do it twice to get the right winding direction. Keep us posted if you do give it a shot Gregg.
Pavan Deep Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I know it can be used in the Eyemo, I think it'll work the Arri 2C too as the camera is not pinregistered. Pav
