Good day, community,  a question about the Alexa Classic XT.

I have a project coming up where we need to shoot at 120 fps. After some testing, we figured out that the highest we can actually achieve in 2K is 90 fps (close enough), and only when shooting ArriRAW in 16:9.

If I switch to ProRes (which is what I'd prefer), high-speed is capped at HD.

I'd really rather not dive into ArriRAW, since neither I nor my editor have any experience with Codex offloading, transcoding, etc.

I guess this isn't really a yes-or-no question  I'm more looking for input on the ArriRAW pipeline.
Is it possible to convert the footage to ProRes 4444 when offloading from the Codex drive?
In a perfect world, I shoot ArriRaw for 2k 120 and convert it Proress ASAP, is this possible?

Please note that I might be off on:
  2k ArriRaw 4:3 = 90fps ?
  2k ArriRaw 16:9 120fps ?
but it doesn't change much for the sake of the information I am seeking

In ProRes 4444 the XT can capture HD 16:9 120fps. For 2K you can not capture beyond 60fps, only 2.8K ARRIRAW supports 120fps in 16:9 or 90fps in 2.8K 4:3 ARRIRAW. Keep in mind ProRes always requires more processing power to deBayer an image and the XT was released in 2013 - processing power was limited back then, it's a 13 year old camera.

Yes thank you for the confirmation.
Do you have experience with the ArriRaw workflow?

If you use the new exclusively released by CODEX "XR Capture Drive" 1TB for the XT vs the older original XR Capture Drive 512GB (yellow or orange ring) you can use their modern and simple CODEX Device Manager software that can be download from their website for free - that means your drive just shows up on your desktop when mounted and you can offload footage "normally" and convert the ARRIRAW to ProRes in DaVinci Resolve. If you use the old original XR capture drive with the camera you'll need to use the old CODEX suite of software which is clunky to say the least...

Sadly, I will only have the 2x 512 GB of the old XR. I will run some tests with the legacy software, but something tells me I am better off shooting 1080p 4×4. It might be low by today's standards, but it might also just do the trick.
Thanks for the input
