Adriano Cimino Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Hello to everyone. I am looking for information - and possibly for footage too - about this lens. There are some short videos somewhere in this site, and a Vimeo link to 16mm footage as well. Unfortunately it asks me facial recognition for age check and no, I am not doing that. Is it a fish-eye lens or do the lines in the image remain straight? Also, does anybody know the filter thread measure? Thanks.
Geffen Avraham Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) I think it's rectilinear (not a fisheye). I need to check about the filter thread. Edited June 1 by Geffen Avraham
Adriano Cimino Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 Thanks Geffen, from the video the lens seems rectilinear, although not bearing the (wonderful) angle-adjustment effect the Kinoptik has. Anyway the video has been shot with a Pentax Q, which has a tiny sensor (1/1.7"), it hits just the center of the lens image then. Olaf Trevilla wrote me in private. He said he used to have the Super Wide Angle and affirms it is a fish eye in the full super 16 frame.
Olaf Trevilla Posted June 2 Posted June 2 This is looking through the viewfinder of a Rx5 regular 16 with the Century 5.7mm. It looks even wider on super 16 which makes sense as to why it looks so rectilinear on the Pentax Q since the Pentax sensor is almost 3x smaller than the Bolex gate.
