Gautam Valluri Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Here's the trailer, released on a full moon too: Paging @Jarin Blaschke: this looks fantastic, tells us your secrets! 2
Gautam Valluri Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 I suspect bleach bypass has been used in some or all sequences? Also, are the full-moon sequences shot on 5222 ?
Jarin Blaschke Posted June 29 Posted June 29 I can't say too much before press on the cinematography begins, but no, no bleach bypass. 5222 is used in post though, not extracted from all color layers equally. J 4

J Very interesting! I guess a film out to 5222 was used as an overlay to deepen the blacks and add 5222's signature grain structure? Do let us know when the press begins, we will keep speculating in the meantime. The image is so unique, has a colourized daguerrotype-like quality in some shots.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted June 30 Premium Member Posted June 30 Looking forward to hearing more, like how the color channel imbalance to get an orthochromatic look was done -- did they do a separate pass on the whole film in the D.I. with the red channel darkened and the green and blue channel brightened before doing a film-out to b&w 5222 for an ortho look (or was it just an adjustment to the laser recorder to reduce the output of the red channel), then did they re-scan that back to digital in order to overlay it onto a normal color version? 1
