Listen carefully to the "technical manager". He doesn't have a clue what happens at any stage of processing.

He confuses bleach and stabiliser and thinks the fixer makes the image sharper.

I'm not sure I'd go near the place😱

But the worst part is that Kodak let this go out in their name. It doesn't bode well.

I've scanned a bunch of it now, doesn't seem to really have any unique feeling to me at all. You can achieve the "look" through grading like the video you posted.

How's the tungsten lit interiors look? Uncorrectably red? Tungsten version of this stock would have been far more useful.

There's already a 200T Vision-3 stock. The reason this 200D exists is because it is repackaged Portra 400D still camera stock. There aren't a lot of tungsten-balanced color negative stocks made for still photography to repackage at this point.

Really wished they kept it at 400 speed. There's basically no high speed daylight balanced motion picture film stocks at the moment.

I am aware that it is a repackaged Portra film. In that case, what is the point of such a stock when there is already a 250d stock? The point of using this stock is to achieve a different look, but having to use v3 for all the tungsten lit interiors sort of defeats that purpose, right? One couldn't shoot a feature solely on Verita stocks as it is only daylight balanced. It just sounds like a specialty stock as opposed to being a true alternative to v3. I am still glad it exists however. Maybe/hopefully, they will also introduce tungsten variants in the future .

I'm not a huge fan myself. Shot some 16mm with it. A LOT of magenta in it.

Is this official? The test rolls I had definitely did not give me Portra vibes

I heard it Euphoria credited it as shot on Portra stock, before it was made public as Verita. I haven't seen the show myself however.

Hopefully, they will release the Verita line in tungsten as well to be able to shoot projects solely on Verita without having to complement it with v3. I am still happy just even for the fact that Kodak is still putting out a new film stock in this digital age.

I have been rating my 400 Portra stills at native speed and always developing at ECN-2, not C-41 for quite some time now. They look really nice assuming they are scanned appropriately, so I guess that's similar to using a Verita for stills.

Example - Nikon F100 - Nikkor 35-70mm 2.8 AF.

Based on this practice and the fact that I have 300' of 16mm Verita that I will definitely not be rating at 200 I am thinking to rate maybe at 300 or even 400 in the end - Still deliberating internally.

whats weird is that kodak's official posts of 200D all have this magenta vibe that Im not seeing at all on material others have posted. it almost looks like they're distributing their posts with a sort of beat up hd telecine look from 2005.

really want to get my hands on some to see whats going on for my self. cause I've seen Uli's stuff on IG and it looks pretty fantastic

Wasn't that stated as an issue if printing direct? My assumption is that normally graded stuff don't have these issues. This example specifically looks pretty much like Portra 400.

Im not sure why kodak would not just do a normal DI process for something they're putting out on social media. they dont seem like the sort of company to spend additional $$$ on printing and then scanning that print, especially when thats not the workflow the majority of customers will follow

The ECN-2 process alters the sensitivity, that's why it's 200 ISO.
