Gautam Valluri Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Hello all, I recently did a quick test on an old roll of Fuji Eterna 250D that I rated at 100 ASA. I then hand-processed myself in ECN-2. On the developing spiral, I made a mistake and I loaded it perfs-up instead of down. Here is the scan of the results: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b9HptJ1udtDSvzXRa4dAGABga1Nld-nv/view?usp=sharing I noticed there is some "pumping" like action on the left edge of the frame. Is this a developing issue or is the stock going to be entirely like this? Thanks, GV
Dave Beling Posted August 7 Posted August 7 To me it looks like result of hand processing i.e. developing agent not evenly spread. At least that’s kind of result I got when I hand processed MP films. 1
Brandon Paterno Posted August 7 Posted August 7 (edited) i agree with dave. i think you may have agitated too fast, and having the perfs face up didn’t help. chemical can become a whirlpool in the tank pretty easily and (this may be reaching…) the perf holes facing up allows irregular liquid flow to affect the image area. i’d be more inclined to say that the agitation was possibly the bigger issue though — colors look good! are you working with a kit or did you get raw chems? Gautam Valluri Posted August 9 Author Posted August 9 Thank you both for your responses! I'm surprised too with the results from his almost 15-year old Fuji Eterna. We have all the raw chemistry in our artist-run film lab, L'Abominable. We also have developing machines but for small tests like this we just hand-process in our dark room.
