Designed a simple controller which is better suited for diy NPR motors than my 6-speedV1 diy crystal kits which were meant for K3 style cameras. This tiny 3-speed one is meant to be used with a 3-position lever switch to run 24 - 33.333 - 48fps crystal or 25 - 33.333 - 50fps crystal and ideally used with similar 42bls01 motors and bldc controller I am using on Universal Motors I am making. Custom speeds possible if you would purchase more than one 3-speed kit, I can custom program it to run for example 12fps - 24fps - 48fps if needed, just need to make multiple custom ones at a time to keep it practical.

If needing more speeds than 3 one would build the motor around my external 7-speed EXR controller instead which is a separate box connected via cable. This 3-speed is meant for simple basic motors which need to be very streamlined and allow maximum design freedom with the casing as this small panel with the control board on back of it can be mounted to any position in the motor casing making it much easier than the led light selector systems which can't be on the front of the motor and are larger sized.

So there is two good low cost options to make diy NPR motors now. If someone would be interested in ordering these, would be good if I would get some orders in November for either this 3-speed or the EXR7speed external controller so that I would have some budget to run tests and design a basic version of the diy motor casing for NPR which can use both these 3-speed systems and the EXR external controllers. I would use budget to develop and test the diy casing which is included as .step file with all the controllers.

Price range somewhere around 400usd / 400 euros with a bldc board and 42bls01 motor with custom dual axle. If only needing the controller then would be cheaper.

Dimensions of the control panel and some views how the circuit board is attached behind it. You must use the original control panel with these controllers and keep the board attached to it. Otherwise you can design the motor freely.

The crystal controller includes this kind of very basic control panel which has 24/33.333/48fps markings on the other side and 25/33.333/50fps markings on the other side. One can flip the panel to show the presets the controller board is set on. If ordering custom framerates (for extra fee and minimum order amounts apply) then it is possible to get either a panel with blank space where one can write down the custom presets, or if the custom speeds are popular enough I might make a special version of the panel which already has those markings.

The control panel is just normal green-ish FR4 circuit board material and exactly same size than the crystal board panel so the panels can swap places etc if needed. Makes designing the casing easier.

Front side and back side of the basic control panel which is included with stock 3-speed kits, one flips the panel to reveal other side if needed :
