Stefan Kahlert
Is there or has there ever been Super 8 black & white negative stock? What's the story? Plus-X and Tri-X can be developed as a negative film according to Andec http://www.andecfilm.de/html/negative_development.htm I assume most bw reversal film can be developed this way (and will loose a stop) with the exception of Fomapan 100R as it has an anti halation layer of dispersed silver (not silver-halide) under the emlusion which needs a reversal process for removal. Any other known exceptions? Stefan

Robert Hughes
Both Plus-X and Tri-X work fine as negative films. Negative b&w processing is the simplest process and you can do it in a plastic bucket in your bathroom or kitchen sink if you want. Derate the speed by 1 to 1.5 stops from normal reversal processing. Even Kodachrome can be processed as b&w negative. But not Kodak 4X or Foma; they have silver antihalation layers that must be removed during the bleach step of reversal processing.
