Hi, not sure if your a member of the Konvas group in the smartgroups website but there is a little info on lube there. I have a 2m and I am using a synthetic greese made by "Loctite" called "Viper Lube" for the areas to be greased and I'm using a gun oil for the spots to be oiled. There's photo's of the areas to be lubed and oiled on the www.konvas.info website and the address for smart groups is:

Visit Commiecam.com . They have a lot of info there. I posed a similler question a while back, sewing machine oil and watch oil were the universal answers.

I use whatever's on my workshop shelf, toward the front of the stack. Some days it's my Mitchell oil bottle, or my can of WD-40 (kerosene and light oil), or 3-in-1 oil, they all work. Oil's well that ends well.

Not need use any oil for Konvas mechanisms, i see a some mechanisms with sticked parts from bad oil.

WD-40 can be fluid a some.

I recommend use a fine-instrument lubricant, (time-piece lubricant, clock oil, watchmakers' oil ), but, not

too liquid version.

The evry good oil with wide range of temperature -40..+40.

But, If you will shoot with low temperature, need use other type of oil.

The fluid oil must have axis, axis of mirror disk.

The parts of transport pin, ball bearing of magaiznes must have consistent fat.

I think what Olex is trying to say is that the main drive shaft and the shaft that runs the shutter must be lubed with oil, while the pulldown claw mechanism, gears and bearings in the magazines must be packed with grease. I read somewhere that you don't want to use petroleum based grease, because it may weaken the nylon gears in the camera and magazines.

I wouldn't use WD-40. It is petroleum based and has degreaser-like qualities. Try instead a Teflon / PTFE based oil:

Yes, the main drive shaft ( friction bearing) and shaft of shutter ( friction bearing) must have oil.

The Parts of pull down claw mechanism must be packed with grease.

But, you can combine of grease and oil on a some parts of pull down claw mechanism.

The one part of pull down claw mechanism can be from nylon ( at last version ) or from steel.

But, i use grease for this part from nylon too.

I don't know, but, i nont mix grease with different base.

The film magazine have one gear from nylon, and not important too much, what version of grease will have this gear. This gear set on axis with ? ball bearing

I make a few experiments with modern greases, I don't know, but, I trust more of petroleum based greases with additive.

This russian names of grease: Litol-24, Type-158, oil MN-60.

The original user manual wrote : oil WNII NP-6 TU 38-00.1168-74,

grease WNII NP-271, OKB-122-7

The re-lube of pull down claw mechanism need do after every 1500 m of film.
