Leon Rodriguez
I haven't tapped in for a while so I don't know if anyone has heard that Henri Cartier-Bresson has passed from this earth. For me this is a monumental loss. This is a guy who saw the world and documented it without regard to any religious, political or personal motivation. Purely humanistic response. The world as it is. I should have such unmotivated responses. I lament that I don?t. It is an incredible discipline to approach the world with such honesty! Cinematographers, Please, join me in praising his altruistic efforts; his humanistic impulse; his vision of optimism for the species. Que viva ... Henri Cartier-Bresson! J. Lamar King IMPOSTOR
I'll second that Leon. When asked how he makes a photograph he would usually reply by saying, "I'm just receptive." Which is really what great photography is about, being sensitive to the moment.
Premium Member Adam Frisch FSF Posted August 6, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted August 6, 2004 I absolutely agree, Leon. What a pity - his images were great. I've admired them for years, but never had the money to buy one of his books. Now I'm going to make it my first priority.
Premium Member Wendell_Greene Posted August 6, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted August 6, 2004 Sad news indeed, yet what an outstanding legacy he left behind! I learn something new each time I view his work.
