Chuck Toeti Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Any one knows of c mount anamorphic lenses or if there is an adaptor from PL mount to C mount. Thx, Chuck.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted May 5, 2007 Premium Member Posted May 5, 2007 "Chuck" you need to go to My Controls and change your Display Name to a real first and last name, as per the forum requirements listed when you registered. Also, why is this posted in the Arri D20 subforum?
Francis De Marco Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Any one knows of c mount anamorphic lenses or if there is an adaptor from PL mount to C mount. Thx, Chuck. Did you check with Century Optics, (now Schneider I beleive)? They may have PL/C mount adapters (www.centuryoptics.com)
kevin jackman Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 why post under here and what exactly are you trying to do?
Premium Member John Sprung Posted June 29, 2007 Premium Member Posted June 29, 2007 C-mount was originally designed for 16mm when it was a home movie format. It consists of a simple screw thread, nominally 1" outside diameter, and 32 threads per inch. That's a National Fine standard, you can buy taps and dies for it from any machine shop supply place. The flange - focal distance for C-mount is 0.690", and most lenses will have threads extending about 0.150 - 0.160" deeper into the camera. That leaves you just over half an inch between the end of the one inch cylinder and the film. Most mounts for 35mm, to which the D-20 was dimensioned, are quite a bit deeper, typically near a couple inches. That makes the adapter the OP wants quite difficult to make. It's typically easier to adapt 35mm lenses to C-mount cameras. They're also sure to cover the whole 16mm frame. -- J.S.
Premium Member Chris Keth Posted July 17, 2007 Premium Member Posted July 17, 2007 Be careful if you make or rent an adapter. The weight of the adapter plus the average PL mount prime is probably too much for a C lens mount. A zoom certainly would be too much.
