tim rook Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 i'm looking at purchasing a remote head. the three that i have researched are the power pod, hot head, or scorpio. has anyone used all three and have a preference?
tim rook Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 also any sugestions on remote focus unit, preston or arri?
Camillo Foramitti Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 My favourite remote focus unit is the cmotion. It has a modular design so you only have to carry around what you really need. Check it out at http://www.cmotion.at/
Alexander Joyce Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 also any sugestions on remote focus unit, preston or arri? I don't know about the others but the Arri does cost a fair bit. I ordered a remote system from them last week and it came to about ?27 000. That was with 3 motors for remote focus, iris and zoom. The motors alone were ?2641 each. It's a good system, but I've never seem or tried any of the others, so I can't really offer a comparison. I'm not sure if you've used one, but it's also modular in the sense that each separate controller just clips on to the other depending on what you need. The new version also supports video cameras and it's possible to get lens data on a video camera with pro35 and master primes if you have the right parts for the system. You can also start/stop the cam.
tim rook Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 thank you for your sugestions. i checked out the cmotion site and its quit an impressive system. i'm a grip so i wont be using the focus system but this one seems to do everything. as far as heads go i found another one that may work has anyone ever used the cam-remote head?
