andrew heggli
Heres a couple of pictures I've taken with the Sony Alpha DSLR, woudl like some consteructive feedback if anybody has some time on their hands. Will be very much apprechiated. Well, here the first one, and before you see it, if i were to do it again, i would have had a lower ISO. Still think it turned out ok though. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/42875386/ I was just waling to somebodys place if i remember correctly and saw this and decided to take a pic. Thought it turned out ok. Both colours and (whats this called in english again... english is actually my first language... just speak too much norwegian nowadays...)... whats it called again? composure? The way the picture is set up. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/43043179/ These pics are a bit old but they're the onyl ones i have online right now. Premium Member Michael Nash Posted August 7, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted August 7, 2007 The first one is nice. If you had used a lower ISO, you would have had to use a longer shutterspeed which might have made the candleflames blur. It's very natural looking as is. The second one doesn't do much for me. The composition is just ok, not great -- the shapes aren't bold or clear enough to make a strong graphic form, or diffuse enough to make a pattern. Positioning the horizontal highlight in the middle of the frame is somewhat interesting only because of the amount of black "negative space" around it. The depth and contrast are the interesting points visually, but it's lacking a clear subject (even if the subject is the sunset itself). Not sure what this is doing in the lighting category though... Tom Lowe
I really like the first one. It reminds me of Barry Lyndon. :) Perhaps you could have lowered the ISO by opening the aperture (assuming you have a faster lens), but then you would have seriously blurred the background. Who knows if it would have been better or not, but I like it as it is.
