Hey,

I'm in Europe shooting some Microsoft commercials, we are using the Varicam / PAL. and the question has come up about the HZ rate. my understanding is at 25fps we should be shooting at 60 HZ. Is this correct? Do you have any other insights or feedback?

I appreciate it.

Since your end product is PAL, which is a pure 50i, then you are correct in that you'd want the varicam set to 60Hz mode. If you set the camera to 59.94, then your 25fps footage would actually be 24.975, which could cause you a headache in post.

Correct, the PAL/SECAM world is strictly "point zero zero". It's only when you need to be in sync with NTSC that you use "point nine something".
