You are right Jan... It is all about taking risks. That is all my team and I do here in South Florida- I love "nay sayers"!!!!! they only fuel me for becoming 100 times more determined.

Thank you for all your constructive responses. As usual, not a single nugget of real information among all that wet sand. And just a hint: your otherwise witty and biting ripostes tend to somewhat lose their sting if you can't spell

Just to address some of the more outrageous claims made:

I don't recall anybody on this forum categorically stating that a camera like the RED COULD NOT BE MADE.

The questions were basically,

How could it possibly be made for the price quoted, (at least reliably) and

How competently could the project be handled by someone with absolutely zero track record in electronics.

Since jannard has never commented on how much the project actually cost, and we have yet to see a single production-line RED in everyday operation (not hand-tooled prototypes being baby-sat by RED technicans), these question have yet to be answered. (No, no; don't race into a fulminating reply; they haven't!) Maybe they will be soon, but to date, they haven't.

I became interested in the RED after somebody else asked me about it and I thought it might be just the thing for a particular project they were researching. At the time REDUSER didn't exist, and the RED site itself was not particularly useful for obtaining hard information.

There hadn't been any discussion of the RED here for some time, so I signed on to first to ask if anybody had heard anything. After all, there had been an enormous amount of similar fanboy-type excitement over the Kinetta, which turned out to be pretty much vapourware.

Somebody accused me of wanting to start a fight back then, and my answer then, as now, was that if you ask difficult questions, they sometimes let real information slip out without realizing it. However, I think they're getting wise to that, since all I seem to attract now is responses from people quoting "Chapter and Verse" what they read on REDuser.net.

As it happens, the project I had in mind has now been cancelled, so while I have no particular interest in how the RED project is progressing at the moment, that doesn't prohibit me from commenting of gathering further information.

If the fanboys and illiterate dreamers want to go screaming at me like was a spokesman for NAMBLA or something well fine well, fine, as long as you're aware of what it looks like to the "audience" (ie casual readers who aren't members)

After all, this forum is supported by advertising, so the more people who download these pages, the better

Respectfully,

Carl (Schlock Jock) Brighton

Yes, I know there are a couple of spelling errors in there, but by the time I noticed them, the edit timeout thing stopped me from correcting them!

Perhaps you'd better come over to reduser.net though if we're not allowed to talk about RED here?

Graeme

No thanks, I'll just sit on the sidelines. I don't really care one way or the other about the RED, and I get the distinct impression anybody who asks any sensible questions there is going to be shown the door rather quickly, a la some of the other fanboy-oriented forums.

(my point exactly--- Why are you here Carl? Just to stir up a fight?)

Colonel Klink at DVXuser.com booted me off their forum exactly 30 seconds after I made my first post there.

Thanks for taking note of my spelling Carl and also for another insult to us fanboys and dreamers.

You don't think I made the same mistake with my typing as you did with yours? Yet, you still want to call me an illiterate dreamer???? Dude- you are such a joke. You sit there and have the nerve to insult me about my spelling yet you make the same mistake??? I say again- YOU DID THE EXACT SAME THING!!!!!?????? Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't that make you look like a dumb ass?

Carl, you said you were not going to post here again, yet you continue to do so. You said you like to learn more, however, all you do is complain. I haven't seen you say anything worth while since you've been back. Who are you learning from? Us fanboys that you hate? Us illiterate dreamers??? You never answered my question- Why are you back posting??? You want to slam this camera? Or only to stir up stuff?

Anyway- I will enjoy insulting you back. Trust me, it will be like Christmas each day I come here to look at what you post about me. Come on and flame me. I will enjoy this very much.

Oh- and make sure to use spell check on your post as I will with mine... he he he he hehehehehehehehehehe.... haha hahahahahahah...

Can you all say, "LOOSER!!!!???"

Can you all say I can't spell "loser?"

Ok I assume that's me? Judging by the caption.

Why do you attack me Carl? I was trying to HELP you.

Did you not see I was pointing out that your nemesis could not spell "loser" thereby making himself look rather silly.

I was quoting Jon Hunter, NOT you.

Next time pick your fights with the right people.

R,

PS: I don't think you got my chin right, and I've never had long hair.

You misunderstand; that cartoon is supposed to be ME!! Well, more correctly, a caricature of how I and other like-minded curmudgeons appear to be perceived by the assorted joyboys on REDuser and elsewhere. It's basically saying: 'Well, gee, I've never heard anything like THAT before!"

The only reason your statement was included was simply that I clicked the reply button on your previous post to activate the posting menu. I could have done it with any post really. It never ocurred to me to remove the quote from you at the top. So really, it was just intended to be Carl Brighton speaking in his usual sarcastic and ironic tone.

Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Have you guys seen Ace Ventura? I was attempting to say loser the same way he did- but it back fired on me- he he.. laugh it up. Lets try it again, shall we.... "Looooo sssssseeeeerrrrrr" Maybe that will work!

If we all want to point out how we spell on here then lets do it. Maybe that is what cinematography dot com may be good for. It certainly isn't good for coming here to discuss new cameras. I find that this is a wonderful website to join if you are planning on insulting people.

Don't worry though I am on the war path- I remain on the side-lines until I here Carl say something insulting.

"You misunderstand; that cartoon is supposed to be ME!!"

Ahhhh, ok, well no worries then.

But without a clear caption, the content of the text certainly sounded like some thing I would be parodied as saying. Of course the quote was the most confusing part.

Any way doesn't matter, carry on world.
