Freya Black
What are the difference between the PD-150 and PD-170, if there´s any.Thanx. Suprisingly little, the big thing is probably that it can record in the more proffesional DV-Cam format and that it has zebra bars. It's basically a PD-150 with a few more pro TV industry features. Sadly there isn't even native 16:9 (it's cropped from 4:3). There are some more details here: http://www.simplydv.co.uk/Reviews/sony_dsr_pd170.html love Freya

The sole difference is that the PD170 has revised electronics, a bigger viewfinder (which still sucks) and the fact that the 0,7 wide angle converter came with the camera. That's it. Thomas if you buy a new/used camera, by all means go for the PD170, but if you already own a PD150 (like me) no need to spend money on the younger brother.... Cheers, Dave

Shawn Mielke
The PD170 is an improvement over the PD150. Cleaner video signal. Simultaneous LCD and VF. Much improved LCD visibility in bright sunlight. More rugged handle. In the case of either cameras, however, an external recording device is highly recommended for any serious audio acquisition as preamps are shamefully low rent.
