Cinematography Electronics motor for the 2C

Would like to hear people's experiences with the Cinematography Electronics crystal speed motor for the Arriflex 2C camera. Pros, or cons.

 

Can it really be run off a 12 volt battery if you are only running it to 24 fps (the specs say yes, but in the real world, is that so)?

 

Anything that a 2C newbie should know about using this motor with this camera?

I hear about the one version of upgrade of Arri-2b/c cameras from technician of Dovgenko cine studios ( Kiev).

This is modification included special box at lower side of body with belt-drive and DC motor DPR-72-06 with

tachometer ( feed back ) and electronics.

The DC motor and electronics use from 17EP-16 APK motor of Konvas cameras.

This is version of camera had speed up to 32 fps with 12 v battery.

 

We have a few versions of controllers of DC motors with crystal sync speed.

And, This is controllers can be use for upgrade of electronics of camera.

The camera must have DC motor and can have possibilities to attach of optical feed back.

Hi Tim,

I have a CE base on my 2C - It is a great motor, I have found it reliable and gives the camera a new lease of life. You can run up to 30fps on 12v. 42fps on 16v and 80fps on 2x12v If you get in touch with CE they can mail you the operating instructions if you haven't already got them. Some may say that it makes the camera more difficult for handheld but I have never had a problem. You can attach bridge plates to it, it has 2x 11pin fischer plugs so you can attach on/off , timelapse, etc and pull 12v from them.
