Andrew Parke
Any recommendations for insurance companies or agents for film/video/lighting equipment? Ditto for blanket annual insurance policies for equipment rental from rental houses? Recently got rear-ended by a Mack Truck with a Betacam Camera and lighting package in the trunk. The car and I were insured, but the gear was not, I found out later. Fortunately, the shipping cases protected the gear. This time.
Mitch Gross
Most general film insurance firms offer owner policies for gear. Try DeWitt-Stern or Near North Insurance. Generally annual coverage costs 1.5% of the insured value, so $100,000 worth of gear would cost $1,500 per year to insure. Most insurers have a minimum as well.
