nd grads

It's a grad... so how far you push it down into the frame affects exposure, though since generally you are using the ND grad to darken part of the frame (not brighten the clear area) you usually don't compensate. I compensate a little when using an ND Attenuator Grad though since it has no clear area.

 

Soft-Edge grads are most common and useful for most focal lengths. Hard-edge grads are only useful for long-lenses. Super wide-angle lenses may need to use an Attentuator.

 

I find that an ND.60 Soft-Edge grad is the most common one I use -- ND.30 is too subtle and ND.90 is too obvious...
