Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted January 7, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 on a close-up, which eye should be in focus?? The eye the viewer's eye is more likely to notice. It may be the eye that is bigger in frame or it may be the eye catching the most light.
Brian Dzyak
on a close-up, which eye should be in focus?? Start with your own! ;) Then I usually go for the eye that is closest to lens, so if the subject is looking off to screen right, his left eye would be in focus. Premium Member Brad Grimmett Posted January 7, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted January 7, 2008 The one eye in focus thing drives a few camera assistants I know crazy. They hate it. They think it's distracting and would prefer to have both eyes in focus. I don't necessarily mind it. What do you guys think?
Allen Achterberg
I find it for the most part bothersome. Usually, that's when I'll start making joking comments about the stop. or if beforehand I know that we will have the issue, I'll say, "So eh, what eyeball you want in focus there eh Chief?" all DP's I've worked with don't mind the issue.
