Jacqueline Donaldson
Hi everyone, this might me a daft question, but we are about to buy an adaptor - probably the Letus extreme for our HVX 200 and it just popped into my head - where do I control the apature? Do do i shot with the iris wide open on the camera and use the iris on the lens? Or do I open the iris on the lens and control from the cam as normal?? Or do you usually do a bit of both? Interested to know if people have preferences and what results you get. Thanks, Jacqueline
Premium Member Michael Nash Posted January 15, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted January 15, 2008 It's a balance of both. The taking lens' aperture controls depth of field of the scene, and the adapter's aperture controls focus and veiling glare on the groundglass. Usually you'll find a "sweet spot" where both work best, and limits where either one can introduce problems. ND filters can help control exposure while maintaining optimum aperture settings.
