Since you can only buy directly from the manufacturer. this would only apply if RED can actually make the camera for less than 50% of the original price. There are no large dealer's margins built into the price, just RED's own margin. If they have that large mark up they can sell cameras they may sell at that price, but unlikely give the fuss that the current ONE owners would make on REDUser. More likely they'll sell on the traded in RED ONE cameras at a profitable price and stop manufacture if demand drops below a certain level. Hi, I assume that RED will at least break even on Epic with just the upgrade price. The jump in price from Scarlet to Epic is rather large. Thomas James Posted November 17, 2008 Share Posted November 17, 2008 Once the cost of the research and development and the tooling of the Red One is ammoratized then the only costs left are the costs of sucessive production which will be dramatically lower.
