Chris Saul Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I want to get a 2k xenon light. I usually get my lighting from wooden nickel but I didn't see this type of light on their website. Does anybody have any recommendations on where a good place to rent a xenon light or any HMI's?
Premium Member Kevin Zanit Posted November 14, 2008 Premium Member Posted November 14, 2008 WN does not carry Xenon heads. The few times I rented Xenons the job was going out of Hollywood Rentals. That said, I am pretty sure they sub rented from another rental house. But Hollywood Rentals, Paskal, and Cinelease are all good places to start. Kevin Zanit
Mike Williamson Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I recently worked on a show as an electric where we got two 4K Xenons, and for whatever reason, they sent them to us with convex mirrors. Does anyone know why they'd give us convex mirrors rather than flat mirrors? We ended up getting hard-side reflector boards from the grips, as it was the only way to maintain a shaft of light, so I guess I'm curious why anyone would rent a Xenon and then use a mirror to spread it out.

Check out the HBO series, From the Earth to the Moon, all the moon sequences were used shooting 8 7K Xenons into a convex mirror, and back, to create the brightness and harshness of the sun.
J. Lamar King IMPOSTOR Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Last time I saw Xenon's I think they came from Hollywood rentals. You might check out AC/DC too.
