Somebody here wants to put me in the moron, crybabie and fanboy category?

Jochen

Generally a "Fanboy" means someone who doesn't own a RED and probably will never be in a position to own one, but wants to join in the discussion as though he does.

It's incredibly tedious debating a subject with someone whose entire working knowledge of the industry starts and finishes with what he has read posted by other Fanboys on Internet forums.

But if you want to share your real-world RED experiences with us here, go right ahead, that is what the forum is for after all.

There are plenty of people who are more than happy with their RED Ones, and there are also no doubt any number of Morons and crybabies who bought a RED without a proper business plan, but that applies to lots of things.

To quote Jim Jannard himself:

My bet is that if you can't make great images from a RED ONE... Monstro won't help you. With all due respect.

Jim Jannard released RED with full knowledge Scarlet was possible, and would be considerably cheaper didn't he? So he purposefully conned his fans. Scum. Doesn't he already have enough money?

Hi Matthew,

I think that's most unlikely, he had not even seen any images from the sensor until many people had reserved. 2 years is a long time with computer technology.

I am truly fascinated by RED's marketing approach. I have never seen such ferocious love and hate in a product before. As an idea, it seems to border on religion, politics or extreme expressions of sports. In that, it seems that these emotionally invested people are processing the topic as a "belief" or as a "faith". This kind of processing is usually reserved for aspects of life where there is unmanageable uncertainty, ie., the future. I guess that is why Jannard keeps the market buzzing over what he will release instead of what he has released as a product.

All other camera companies wait until they have a product that is worth a crap and ready to come off the manufacturing line before announcing the product. Then they live with the facts of that product. If it has short comings, they don't get on the web and maneuver like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

It's not that all this is right or wrong. Who can say what's right or wrong since no one's gotten hurt or anything. It's just really unusual.
