Phil Jackson
Happened to catch a trailer during the NBA Finals for the new Apatow movie Funny People and was immediately caught by the photography. Did a quick IMDB reference and discovered this is a rare non-Spielberg Janusz Kaminski outing (and a comedy at that). It's been forever since I've seen him do a non-Spielberg film. Chris Fernando
You mean you couldn't tell by the behind-the-lens net/stocking effect on all the highlights?
Phil Jackson
You mean you couldn't tell by the behind-the-lens net/stocking effect on all the highlights? Well that's what kinda struck me when I saw the trailer. Not what I was expecting from this type of movie and my first instinct wasn't to assume that it was Kaminski, but rather someone copying his style or some other DP. Ravi Kiran
What was this shot on? It didn't look like film to me.
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted August 4, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted August 4, 2009 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1201167/technical I'd be surprised was it not film and IMDB wrong.

Ravi Kiran
It was shot in 35mm. I saw it projected in Xtreme Digital Cinema (which I couldn't find any info about), which could be why it looked strange, especially considering the DP.
Premium Member Paul Bruening Posted August 4, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted August 4, 2009 I saw it on a 2K Barco. For the most part, it looked okay. But, there were a number of times that the image seemed synthetic. Now that I know it was originated on 35mm I can blame the video-er parts on the projector or post.
