Simon J Miller
So we decided that we would shoot 4k on a red with Zeiss superspeeds - to scale the digital look back a bit from those scary Master Primes. Decode in London did their bidding and provided us with a first rate bit of kit Arri this and Arri that, dolly track, the lot - all was well until we learned that if you have a PC then the best thing to do if you want to watch your rushes was to forget it !! What is going on ? doesn't Red know that it just isn't Macs out there but other computer formats are available too ? I love Red so much that I would propose and get married, but hang on a minute we are just so incompatible - is this a familiar story and is there anything I can do about it? What is the story here, any guesses ? Is my sooper dooper computer is redundant if I shoot Red? Thanks
Rob Vogt
I'm not sure if you posted this in the right forum but you can edit RED footage on a PC with Avid using Avid DNxHD Codec. Here's the workflow recommended by avid. http://www.avid.com/red/ http://www.avid.com/MetaFuze/ I'm also pretty sure you can edit RED footage on Premiere and Vegas. So there are options for PC users.
