Finally, a world free of steadicam operators!

Time laying dolly track and getting all those wedges right, too. This is impressive, and it'll compress better, too.

Hey Phil (or anyone),

What is the actual name of the stabilization software depicted in the video?

Thanks.

I get the impression it's just someone's research project right now. This probably means it's at least 18 months from being a commercial product, though I would hope it would probably become one at some point.

I did some poking around after watching the video and adobe labs was all over the place...so I imagine it will be in After Effects at somepoint...

Its unfortunate that it cuts so much of the video off but it still looks AMAZING, I could deff use something like this. Does anyone understand how long the process would take to stablize the video? and is it something that would just be a drag and drop sort of app or is there not enough info out yet?

And imagine if you actually held the camera reasonably steady during your walk, rather than shaking it all over hell and back like the spastic camera work in the demo.

but seriously, do you think that people will skip the steadicam shot because of something like this? i mean on the face of it it does seem like if the cost of the software is reasonable enough any producer would just say "forget the stedi cam." like Patrick said if you had a decent hand held op doing the shot in the first place this could look sort of awesome.

am i missing something here?

This would be an amazing application for sports video, and things where a steadi cam just isnt practical. And as you said alot of it has to do with the operator but this would make a world of difference for follow cams and things of that sort.
