Super 16mm modified Krasnogorsk-3 footage

Hello again,

as I promised in my previous thread (http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=45513), now I post the video transfer of my test roll which was a test of my modified super 16mm Krasnogorsk-3.

 

Here is the edited version of the first indoor part where I tried to sync sound to the footage (the camera as you know is not crystal sync):

There was a light leak which appeared outdoor, next time I will use some tape to cover.

Hi,

 

Looking at the leak, I'd try a flap of camera tape over the footage counter window.

 

Despite having renewed all the sealing foam around that area when I first got my K3, I found there was a light leak about 19 frames either side of where the film had stopped in the gate at the start/end of each shot. This gave a similar effect to what you're seeing and obviously wastes about the first and last second of each shot. With a little flap of tape over the window (I folded the end over so I could still easily lift it up to breifly see how much film remained) I never experienced the problem again.

Personally, I'd try contacting Les Bosher to see what he says.

 

I've been happy with the service and adjustment work he's done on both my R16 and NPR.

I have recently modified my K3 to S16mm (yesterday evening to be precise) and I will be shooting some test footage soon so I hope I can prove that it is an easy task to do. The information is out there on the web and I found the process to be quite easy so long as you face the fact that you might mess up. The camera is super cheap and is perfect to start learning about film. I would recommend going ahead with doing it yourself as it teaches you alot about the guts of the beast.
