Andrew McCarrick
I couldn't figure out where to post this, since it relates to both SD and HD. I need some help on deciding between these two cameras. I need IR shooting capabilities, which both of these cameras have. Pros to the Sony A1U: HD 24p Larger 1/3" sensor Cons to the Sony A1U: sensor scans interlaced images slightly more expensive CMOS sensor One sensor Pros to the Panasonic DVC30: Progressive scan sensors 3 Sensors CCD Slightly cheaper Cons to the Panasonic DVC30: SD No 24p Smaller 1/4" Sensors We're going to be using the cameras almost entirely handheld, in IR modes. The cmos sensor could cause problems with rolling shutter. The interlaced scanning sensor might be a problem too. However, we'd really like 24p and hi-def.
