Dave Bourbois
Hello, I was parrusing a book on 16mm Cameras by Douglas Underhaul last night and I was wondering if anyone knows about the performance of the Cinema Products GZMO? How would you guys rate it overr an Eclair ACL or a CP R16? The book mentioned that it came a little late in the Arri SR and Aaton war and really never caught on. Does anyone know of any links where there are photos of this camera, and does anyone know of someone who sales these cameras. Any info would be appreciatted. -Dave Bourbois
Mitch Gross
There are a couple for sale with pictures on eBay right now. An interesting camera design that never caught on because both the Arri SR and the Aaton offered more for the same money. Of course now you can get a GZMO for far less. The camera has a fatal flaw in the electronics. There's a board theat is not properly ventilated and can overheat. When this happens it can fry a circuit and then that's it--dead camera. Good luck on getting it repaired or finding the replacement parts anymore.
