Can the 70 DR be converted to S16?

Theoretically, it could be done. But given the prices of 16mm stuff these days, you can probably keep the Filmo as-is, and buy a S-16 camera for less than the conversion would cost.

The Russian K3 is extremely easy to convert to S16 including the offset of the lens, not just widening the gate. Someone on eBay was selling the offset mount that just replaces the old m42 mount with two screws. Haven't looked for a while but hopefully it's still available. Not as reliable as a Filmo perhaps but there are some great m42 Pentax lenses out there for a very reasonable price.

Can the 70 DR be converted to S16?

 

 

I was considering converting my 70DR to Super-16mm but have chosen to make it an Ultra-16mm conversion instead. There would be considerable work to be done re making the front of the camera (turret) so that it would accept one lens, centered for Super16mm. The B&H is great rugged camera and I love the one I have and I think it is a perfect Ultra candidate.

Thanks for the input, folks. Although I do have access to machine tools, I've decided not to do it. I will look for an appropriate camera.
