Premium Member Chris Keth Posted December 4, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted December 4, 2010 16 4-perf frames per foot. That's 64 perfs/foot. 64 perfs/3=21.3 3-perf frames per foot. 24/21.3=1.127 feet per second 120 minutes is 7200 seconds; 7200*1.127= 8120 feet (rounded up to the ten)
Mark Dunn
I think the OP means 120 metres (400ft), not minutes. 4-perf runs at 90ft/min. Running times increase by one third, footage required for said running time reduces by one quarter. So 3-perf runs at 67.5 ft/min; a 120m (400ft) roll runs 4 minutes 26 2/3 seconds in 4-perf, 5 minutes 55 1/2 seconds in 3-perf. Simples.

Fred Neilsen
thanks Michael ! and do you know or someone knows were can I find a table in the internet with all the timings? Film Calculator is a great widget for the mac (It may be an iphone app aswell) you just type in your feet/meters of film, your format (anything from 8mm to Imax) and it gives you the running time. (One drawback though, is that you cant convert running time to feet/meters required - meaning you have to type in a number of feet, then ad or subtract, repeating until you get the correct value) You can download it here. http://www.filmsourcela.com/cool_production_widgets.html Fred
