Andrew Lynch
Hi guys, wanted to get some examples of great cinematography shot with minimalist lighting and natural lighting. As a beginning filmmaker, I'm trying desperately to avoid that overly 'lit' look that seems to be the scourge of low-budget filmmaking. so could anyone give me examples of shots/scenes/movies that are very minimalist with their lighting. so when i'm making another lo/no-budget film, i can involve an audience in my film, and not imagine what kind of fresnel is just out of shot. Jonathan Wilcox
The New World is, as far as I know, all natural lighting. I love how natural the work of Harris Savides and Lance Acord are. They don't use all natural light but they effectively augment natural light with movie lights. If you haven't read the book New Cinematographers yet, it is an excellent read.
