CP Ultra T series Primes

Hello

I have looked in the archives and googled, and didn't find any info on CP Ultra T series primes for the 16mm format. I want to know if these lenses fully cover the Super16 frame. The particular ones are the 12.5mm, 16mm and the 25mm, and all are f1.1. I imagine the 16 and the 25 shouldn't be an issue even if stopped down. But how about the 12.5mm. These CP series have also another one that is 9mm, does that cover S16 or will it be a problem if it is stopped down to for example f8.

My other question is about their quality and resolving power. How does this family of lenses (CP) stack up against the Zeiss super speeds MKI/MKII and the Optar family. I imagine the CP Ultra T series are cheaper but how much in quality do you loose. I am talking for both telecine to Video and 35 blow up. Are these Ultra T primes on the warm or cool side as for the colors, and can they meet the zeiss in sharpness.

I spoke to a DP in Sweden and he told me that the CP Ultra Primes were in fact made by the Japanese company KOWA for Cinema Products in the U.S. Then I called and emailed KOWA and no one replied or returned my calls. I wonder if the CP Ultra primes are the same quality as the Kowa primes.

Any information and advice is appreciated. I am trying to figure out an option for a few fast prime lenses and the Zeiss Super speeds are still above my budget.

Thank You

Yousef

I used those on a CP-16 feature in '98.

Overall they were sharp, and breathing was minimal during focus changes. I was happy to be using those instead of the zoom.

As I recall the 9mm and 12mm crapped out at t1.1 with focus and flare problems.

I've used the 9mm, 12.5 & 25 and I like them a lot.

Really sharp.

I should say though, I haven't compared them to Zeiss super speeds, and I haven't projected anything shot with them.

Much, much sharper than the Canon 12.5-120 I was using before I got the CP's though.
