jon lawrence
Hi, does anyone know where I may find a 4 pin to 6 pin firewire cable roughly 50 meters long? I've been through google a few times but can't seem to come up with any that length. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Jon
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted August 4, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted August 4, 2011 No. It's only supposed to go about five meters. What are you trying to achieve?

jon lawrence
It was for shooting a live feed of a band playing in a studio. The computers are upstairs above the studio. Is there and way of linking a camera to a computer over this distance? Thanks.
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted August 4, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted August 4, 2011 This is what SDI is for. Probably you can get converters, but you might not like the price. P
jon lawrence
Excuse my ignorance but could you give me some details regarding SDI- have no idea what it is. How much £ are we talking with the converters? Thanks, Jon
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted August 4, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted August 4, 2011 SDI is a format for sending SD or HD digital video down 75-ohm coaxial cable with BNC connectors. It's designed to go around studios and postproduction facilities and will do long distances. There are several sub-categories. Price depends on the type. If you're talking about HDV cameras doing HD over firewire, something like this: http://www.creativev...t_hd-connect-le If you can't stretch to that, perhaps you could do analogue component.
