Matt Dennie
I know there is a post similar to this just below, but my situation is a bit different. I recently moved down to L.A. and am in a film school. I want to work my way up to being a DP some day. I am looking for some work preferably on a set. Does anyone on here know of a crew in need of a PA or other job that could get me on set? I mainly just want to observe how everything works. Markshaw
What Film School may I ask?
Brian Hulnick
Why not simply ask your Film School if they know of any filming locally and if they can give you an intro.
Daniel Jackson
Some folk think that maybe just turning up at the set with your credentials may be worth a shot.
Adrian Samuals
Just visit sets and sell yourself to them. Chat to folk.
Matt Dennie
Answering in order of response... Los Angeles City College. Yep, I think I will check with them tomorrow. I feel like once I have some work to show for myself people will be able to judge me better. Ha! I guess I should just stalk a movie set then... Daniel Jackson
I've seen a couple of really big sets and have found the folk seem to be fairly friendly and quite chatty. On one they even let me try out their camera equipment and actually film. It was fun.
Markshaw
Is there a website which maybe lists where films are being made and locations of sets. Or is that kind of info generally kept secret.
Brian Hulnick
I think its just an idea to read the newspapers and also visit sites such as this to see when movies may be filmed.
