emma louise
Hi! Im about to get my first camera (A Nikon D3100) and Im wondering What lens/filter/effect should i use to make my photography seem "indie" (like the following photos). Also, what lens/filter was used to create each of the following photos: 1) http://mevoque.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/bambi-northwood-blyth_tim-barber_muse-magazine-26_summer-2011.jpg 2) http://mevoque.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/bambi-northwood-blyth_tim-barber_muse-magazine-26_summer-2011-2.jpg 3) http://mevoque.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/bambi-northwood-blyth_tim-barber_muse-magazine-26_summer-2011-3.jpg 4) http://mevoque.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/bambi-northwood-blyth_tim-barber_muse-magazine-26_summer-2011-10.jpg 5) http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h-Q9LV0GmbY/TY037swWbTI/AAAAAAAAObQ/YXkFi9A6pSw/s1600/bambi8.jpg 6) http://scriptical.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/golden-eye-bambi-northwood-blyth-tierney-gearon-10-magazine-spring-2011-2.jpg?w=530 7) http://s1.favim.com/orig/22/bed-cats-indie-photography-vintage-Favim.com-212041.jpg THANKS!! Mei Lewis
I don't think you're going to get an easy answer to your question because it's more complicated than just picking the right kind of equipment (lens, filter etc). The 'look' of those photos is down to styling, ligtingm choice of location and model, composition more than lens and filter. For example the first photo could have been shot with pretty much any digital or film camera without a special lens or filter, if you just had that girl dressed like that in that room and you could see to take the photo that looks good. There is a bit of comonality to the pictures in the colors used, with a lot of yellowy-blue contrasts, and a few of the picstures have bit of a desaturated, cool feel. Paulo Eduardo Uchoa
Though the photos are small, I bet there were all shot on film (different film stock have different looks). And filter wise I'd say nothing fancy, outside stuff most likely had a pola. I think all the looks were done in color grading.
