Premium Member John Pytlak RIP Posted March 19, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted March 19, 2005 Anyone know where you can take your edited mini DV tape and get it printed to super8 film? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your first step will be finding a lab that can transfer your tape to a 16mm duplicate negative. Then finding one of the few labs that still make 16 ---> Super 8 reduction prints. Kodak still makes Super-8 color print film (on 16mm wide film that is slit to Super-8 after processing): http://www.kodak.com/US/plugins/acrobat/en...printfilm04.pdf KODAK VISION Color Print Film / 3383 / VCP628 / 16 mm x 2000 ft roll / On Core / Super 8 (1-3) / 2R-16671807858 http://www.kodak.com/US/en/motion/support/...=0.1.4.13&lc=en
Patrick Neary
I apologize in advance for being so ghetto, but (if it's not a 4-hour documentary) why not just shoot it off of an LCD computer screen frame by frame with a super-8 camera?

For a "one of", rephotographing an LCD display should work.
Patrick Neary
With a single frame method, I suppose you would need to figure out a way to translate the 30-frame video (assuming 60i ntsc) to 18 or 24fps super8. either processing through after effects/magic bullet, or skipping every 4th (?) frame or so... that sounds like a very tedious weekend..... it would be interesting to see if it just looked awful, or if it actually works. Patrick Neary
bad math, i believe you would skip every 5th frame to get from 30 to 24fps. undoubtedly this would produce a noticeable judder.
Chris Burke
http://www.blackandwhitefilmfactory.com They will do a Super 8 print of your digital file. Color or black and white. Getting a sound stripe is another thing entirely. I have shot off a LCD screen and have had great results. I used Kodachrome, it looked really good. In terms of frame rate; Is your movie in 30fps or 24fps? If the later, then no problem, you will get a one to one transfer. If 30fps, then follow the math given above, I am not sure what it is but the info is out there. Good luck.
